Good quality September 6, 2010 Z. Tandy Have used this mold a couple times now. Good quality and exactly what we needed.
Great traditional popsicle maker August 19, 2010 Jennifer (NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am new to popsicle making. I tried a cheapo store bought mold with integral plastic sticks but the popsicles had to come out all or nothing, I didn't really like the torpedo sort of shape and I didn't like the idea or the feel of the plastic stick. So, this Progressive mold is PERFECT. The popsicle size is great. About the size of a small store bought pop -- good for adults but not overwhelming for preschoolers either. Things I have learned by trial and error: Wipe the drips before putting the metal top on otherwise the top will be nearly impossible to get off! I let the pops sit in the freezer for 45-60 minutes before inserting the sticks, this keeps them from floating to the top and also ensures that they are straight. I find that the pops come out of the molds easier one by one, so I tap the tray (bottom of molds side down) on the counter to loosen each individual mold, then I slide it out of the holder and dip it in hot water for about 5 seconds or so, then the pop comes out easily. The snack-size zip top bags are just the right size so I can put all the pops in the freezer for easy snacking at a later time! So pleased with my purchase... and I love that I can give my kids yummy frozen treats without tons of perservatives or chemical colors.
So far, So good! August 12, 2010 slburton3 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received my pop maker in the mail and finally got around to using it. It was easy to use; I was not expecting the actual molds to release from the metal grid (not the lid), but the individual ones did come out, so that made it easy to remove only a couple of pops. I'm looking forward to many more pops!
Works, but with some issues August 6, 2010 Cathy W (A Twin Cities, MN, burbclave) I bought this mold years ago, and while it works, there are some definite downsides:
1. If you don't put all the sticks in PERFECTLY VERTICALLY, or even if you do, and they don't STAY that way until it's frozen, then getting the lid off (and then back on again), is nearly impossible as the sticks are at different angles. I solved this by simply not using the lid at all, and letting the sticks go in at weird angles (it worked OK, just looked funny eating a crooked popsicle).
2. You have to keep the entire mold in the freezer until the last popsicle is eaten, and that is both a waste of space, and lacks flexibility. Individual pop molds can be stashed wherever there is room, once they are frozen. I suppose you can remove the popsicles from the mold and store them in something else, but that's kind of a mess.
I eventually replaced it with individual molds that I liked much better - Tovolo brand or something like that.
Works well, but not dishwasher safe August 1, 2010 A. Graettinger (North Carolina, USA) After using this a few times I put it in the dishwasher, this was probably a bad idea because when I took it out all the metal was a different, darker color which I could 'wipe off.' I'm not sure if it was just oxidizing in the air or something was actually leaching out of the metal. I let it sit for awhile and wiped as much of the color off as I could and it seems to be OK. I don't really want to use it now and will probably buy another to be safe.
On the other hand, it works really great and makes popsicles within just a few hours. You can remove them very easily by running warm water over the popsicle you want to remove and then after a few seconds start gently pulling.
Highly recommended just don't wash it in the dishwasher.
